In Memoriam: Zoe Caldwell

Bay Street Theater joins the community in mourning the passing of our dear friend and great talent, Zoe Caldwell, who has been a dedicated part of the theater since its earliest days. Ms. Caldwell began her Broadway career in the 1965 production of "The Devils," followed by "Slapstick Tragedy" in 1966, for which she won a Tony Award, her first of four throughout her illustrious career. Over the years, she remained a dear friend of Bay Street founder and then-Artistic Director Sybil Christopher, and joined Bay Street for its "Summer Reading Series" on several occasions. In 2004, she directed Bay Street's production of "Limonade Tous Les Jours" starring Alan Alda, and, In 2010, returned to Bay Street to help honor friends Annie Jackson and Eli Wallach during a special tribute at the theater. She will be truly missed. Bay Street sends its love and sympathy to her family and all who knew her.
