A Hurricane Relief Benefit Concert to raise funds for hurricane victims around the country will take place at Bay Street Theater on Sunday, October 1 from 4-6pm; emceed by Southampton Town Supervisor, Jay Schneiderman who is helping organize the event along with East end Cares. Suggested donations for adults are $20 and $10 per child, but any amount, large or small, is welcomed. Donations can be made at the box office or on the phone now or on the day of the event. Cash and checks are most appreciated so as to provide maximum funds to the victims. The box office is open Tuesday – Saturday, 11 am – 5 pm, and Sunday Oct. 1 from 2 pm onward; phone number is 631-725-9500. Anyone unable to attend on October 1 may make a donation at the box office any time prior to October 1.

The concert is in honor of all of those whose lives were literally uprooted in recent weeks by hurricanes Harvey and Irma, and the rebuilding that will be required for many weeks and months to come. Bay Street Theater is donating the theater and staff services, and the musicians are donating their time and musical talents for the concert. Escola de Samba BOOM will be playing as people are arriving for the event. Two bands will be performing, which are Joe Lauro & The Hoodoo Loungers and Gene Casey & The Lone Sharks, with solo artists performing between the two bands. All ticket and raffle proceeds will be used for hurricane relief efforts through the Red Cross, the Salvation Army, and Team Rubicon.  Donors can specify which organization their money to go to. Any funds not specified will be shared equally between these 3 organizations.

Maureen Rutkowski, East End Cares co-founder has just returned from volunteering on the ground in Texas with Team Rubicon!   Her experience is so inspiring.  Jon Schoen, a Sag Harbor resident and EEC volunteer, is on the ground now with Team Rubicon and will be back soon.

In addition to great music, a Special Raffle will be held all evening in the lobby with items and prizes donated from local retailers and restaurants. All donations and raffle funds will go to support victims of all of the hurricanes, as each of the charities will distribute where funds are most needed.

Everyone involved will be volunteering their time and talents including musicians, Bay Street staff, community volunteers, Jay Schneiderman and his staff, East End Cares, and many others.
