The accidental shooting of a boy in New York leads to an investigation by the Deputy Mayor, and unexpectedly far-reaching consequences.

This screening will be followed by a talkback producer with Ken Lipper

Ken Lipper pursued two careers at very high levels: Wall Street finance and government service. The former as a partner of Lehman Brothers and Salomon Brothers: the latter as a federal government trade official, Deputy Mayor of New York City with Mayor Ed Koch and Commissioner of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. And he wrote the novels Wall Street and City Hall based on fictionalized versions of his experiences there. Ken served as Chief Adviser to Oliver Stone on the film Wall Street; and as writer/Producer of the screenplay City Hall. He subsequently was Producer of The Winter Guest with Emma Thompson and won an Academy Award as originator and Producer of The Last Days, a feature documentary about the final days of the Holocaust.

Ken’s films focus heavily on carefully defined places, with distinct cultures that have their own denizens with specific ways of expressing themselves. While the dialects and values may be alien to the general public, in Wall Street and City Hall these alien cultures have profound impacts on the daily lives of the average citizen. These environments also help shape their occupants’ values and fates. Similarly, the rural seaside Scottish fishing village in Winter Guest and the concentration camps in Last Days inexorably shape the destinies of their inhabitants and the characters must search for inner human values such as resiliency to reclaim their lives. Mr. Lipper is currently working on a new feature documentary about the impact of modern technology on the physically disabled.

Ken is a graduate of Columbia University, Phi Beta Kappa; Harvard Law School and the Faculte of Law and Economics in Paris, France. He has served on many Boards of Directors, including Neutrogena, CNH Industrial, Rockefeller Brothers Fund, Sundance Institute and the New York Federal Reserve Board’s International Advisory Board.
