
Bay Street Theater invites the community to gather on Sunday, September 28 at 12:00 noon for In Memory & Celebration of Jules Feiffer. This special event will honor the life and legacy of Pulitzer Prize–winning cartoonist, playwright, screenwriter, and beloved East End creative voice Jules Feiffer (1929–2025).

In conjunction with the celebration, the Julie Keyes Gallery will share selections of Jules Feiffer’s work, offering guests a meaningful way to continue honoring his artistry.
About Jules Feiffer
Jules Feiffer’s groundbreaking comic strip Feiffer ran for 42 years in The Village Voice and earned him the Pulitzer Prize for editorial cartooning in 1986. He also received an Academy Award for his animated short Munro (1961). His career spanned more than seven decades and included:
- Playwright credits such as Little Murders and Grown Ups
- Screenplays for Carnal Knowledge and Robert Altman’s Popeye
- Illustrations for the children’s classic The Phantom Tollbooth
- Numerous works for stage, screen, and print
Feiffer lived and worked on the East End for many years, frequently appearing at Bay Street Theater for conversations and special programs. His wit, vision, and unique voice shaped American culture and left an indelible mark on literature, theater, film, and the visual arts.
