Workshops

One of Bay Street's newest initiatives, The Workshops, is committed to developing new work and providing a home for participating artists to explore and expand their creative impulses and inspirations. The Workshops will bring a group of artists including writers, actors and directors to Bay Street where they will be given the opportunity to focus on developing their project for one week ending with a public presentation for our audience on the Saturday evening. With the initiation of The Workshops, Bay Street will further its mission and contribute in a more concentrated and effective way to the continuation and expansion of new works, the artists' commitment to their craft and the audience's participation in the process.

The Workshops are made possible through the generous support of The Lucille Lortel Foundation.

In Memorium. Bay Street Theatre is sad to announce that Lanford Wilson passed away in 2011. That same year audiences enjoyed RAINDOGS, a new musical adaptation of Lanford Wilson's "Balm in Gilead." www.theatreworks.net/raindogs

Also in 2011, The Workshops presented CHASING THE TIGER, by Gail Sheehy, author of the New York Times Bestseller PASSAGES. The play is about a love story of a power media couple, Gail and her husband legendary editor Clay Felker, and their fearless battles and victories over his illness.
