Melissa Errico: The Streisand Effect

Tony-nominated Broadway star and longtime Bay Street favorite Melissa Errico returns with her acclaimed new concert event The Streisand Effect: Melissa Sings Barbra — a funny, glamorous, and deeply personal evening inspired by the music, mystique, and emotional power of Barbra Streisand. Joined by legendary pianist Billy Stritch — a longtime Streisand collaborator and one of cabaret’s great leading men — and a swinging quartet, Errico explores the rich musical world shared by Streisand and her own artistic journey through the songs of Michel Legrand and the Bergmans, Marvin Hamlisch, David Shire, Stephen Sondheim, and the Great American Songbook.

Following its sold-out New York debut, The Streisand Effect played Los Angeles and Las Vegas to critical acclaim, with audiences embracing its blend of beloved classics, jazz-inflected arrangements, intimate storytelling, and witty theatrical conversation. Streisand favorites including “People,” “The Way We Were,” “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers,” “The Music That Makes Me Dance,” and “Send in the Clowns” become part of a larger reflection on ambition, longing, reinvention, artistic influence, and finding one’s own voice.

Broadway World called Errico “a compelling interpreter of classic material,” praising The Streisand Effect as “a deeply personal and musically rich new concert experience…a layered musical narrative that reflects on mentorship, independence and the enduring power of interpretation.” Vegas critic Debbie Hall wrote: “The result is a concert that doesn’t imitate. Instead, it illuminates.”

A celebrated interpreter of Sondheim and Michel Legrand, Errico continues a remarkable international season this summer with her debut at London’s legendary Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in July with The Summer Knows: Melissa Errico Sings Michel Legrand, following last year’s sold-out London concert-hall debut at Cadogan Hall. After Bay Street, The Streisand Effect continues on to Provincetown Town Hall.

“Melissa is one of the most powerful and expressive voices shaping today’s jazz landscape.”
— Neon Jazz, March 2026

“What begins as a glamorous and brilliantly-sung homage to Streisand becomes a moving tale of Errico finding her own voice — and making it sound better, and her audience feel better, than ever.”
— Will Friedwald, The Wall Street Journal

Pianist and singer Billy Stritch has been a fixture on the New York and national nightclub scene for nearly four decades. He began his career in Houston, where he formed the vocal trio Montgomery, Plant, and Stritch, performing across New York and Europe from 1983 until their breakup in 1990. That same year, Billy launched his solo career. He is perhaps best known for his 25-year tenure as musical director and pianist for Liza Minnelli, and he has also toured with Tony Bennett, Christine Ebersole, Linda Eder, Melissa Manchester, Linda Lavin, and other notable artists. His composition “Does He Love You” won a Grammy Award in 1993 and was later recorded by Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton, earning another Grammy nomination in 2023. Recently, Billy was named Outstanding Musical Director by BroadwayWorld readers for an unprecedented sixth time, and his 2022 birthday show at New York’s Birdland Jazz Club was recognized as Outstanding Vocal Jazz Engagement of the Year. With numerous solo albums to his name, his latest release, Billy’s Place (Club44 Records), is available on all streaming platforms and his website. Follow him on Instagram @billystritch.
