Halston
Description
Male, 30s to 50s. This role is cast. Seeking future replacements: The iconic American fashion designer is depicted near the end of his life at the age of 57 but should read younger during flashbacks and reveries. In movement and speech, he embodies the grace, elegance and simplicity that made him the most modern, intriguing man in the room. Halston must exude a deliberate air of calm and control, a supreme level of taste and refinement. Any tension or restlessness is hidden beneath a striking, effortless poise. He communicates with clarity, precision and authority, forever demanding the dominance he believes is his due. He easily diffuses conflict with charm and levity. Throughout the play, the sheen of his persona is repeatedly shattered. His reactions are dramatic, startling, and deeply emotional. Has an agility with both language and movement and the ability to navigate complex emotional dynamics. Able to maintain the intense concentration needed to sustain audience attention, while playfully exploring theatrical shifts in tone.
