"VOYAGE SANS RETOUR", by Raymond Berner, a melodrama for tenor, mezzo soprano, piano and narrator.
Composer and composition were recently discovered in Paris. Berner was a Jewish composer, he and his wife were deported to Auschwitz in 1944, where they died.
The librettist Henry Jacques, director of "Disques" in Paris based the poems on his experiences at sea as a young man, fears and anxieties of death, separation, distance, no return....it is a sailor's wife's story, sending her husband out to sea , her melancholy dreams, her solitude, and her fears-- like in the past of Sag Harbor's whaling days.

Helene Jenney and Lutz Rath will perform the adagio from Rachmaninov's cello sonata, and the baritone Richard Cassell will song three songs from Maurice Ravel's Chants Hebraiques.
