Ages 8-12
9 am to 3 pm daily
In this camp, students will work together with a teaching artist to create and perform their very own musical! In addition to developing ideas for an original script, students will learn standard songs and choreography that culminate in a performance on the Bay Street Mainstage on Friday for family and friends. Students will receive instruction in acting, singing, dance, and musical theater history; and they will also participate in creative theater games and improvisations that help to develop communication skills and encourage them to stretch their imaginative abilities.
The February camp will be taught by Bethany Dellapolla!
Bethany is thrilled to be back at Bay Street! She is an actress herself, who also teaches, choreographs, and directs various theater camps, productions, and classes throughout the island and Manhattan (ages 4 to adult)! Teaching and coaching credits include: Broadway Dance Center (Children/Teen - Triple Threat Program), TADA! Youth Theatre (Director/Choreographer - NYC), Pierson Middle School (Resident Choreographer), The Art Farm (Drama and Music Specialist), and Gateway Playhouse (Acting Faculty - 4 years running). Her students have gone on to receive roles and book call backs for many professional productions, including Broadway/Regional Theater, Television, and Film. She has also been lucky enough to direct and/or choreograph many shows for adults and children, such as "Godspell", "Charlotte's Web", "Really Rosie", "Willy Wonka," "Aladdin Jr.," "Shrek," "13: The Musical", "Fame!", "Anything Goes", "Working", "Oklahoma Jr!", "A Year with Frog and Toad", "The World Goes 'Round", and different cabaret/variety shows. She loves encouraging/cultivating creativity, individuality, self confidence, and hard work in all her students, and feels very lucky to be doing what she does! Onstage, Bethany also continues to audition/perform regularly. Favorite regional credits include: The Tempest (Iris/Boatswain), Love, Loss, and What I Wore (Broadwayworld.com Nomination - Best Actress), The Graduate (Elaine Robinson), Cabaret (Frenchie), The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Olive Ostrovsky), Ruthless! The Musical (Lita Encore), and The Miss Firecracker Contest (Popeye). She truly can't wait to work with you and your child, and she hopes to see you soon on the stage!
